Sanwo-Olu Hosts Southwest Governors for Strategic Meeting on Regional Development

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will host Southwest Governors at the Lagos State House, Ikeja, on Thursday, February 14, 2025, for a crucial meeting aimed at fostering regional development and collaboration.

The Southwest Governors’ Forum meeting will bring together Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) to discuss key regional issues, including agriculture, food security, economic growth, and security.

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the gathering in a statement on Wednesday.

According to Omotoso, “The South West Governors’ Forum will discuss issues of common interest, such as agriculture and food security, to advance economic growth, foster collaboration, and enhance development initiatives in the Zone. Security of lives and property will also be part of the agenda.”

This high-profile regional meeting follows a previous one held on June 10, 2024, in Lagos, where Governor Sanwo-Olu was unanimously appointed Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum.

The upcoming summit underscores the commitment of Southwest leaders to strengthening inter-state cooperation, addressing economic challenges, and ensuring security across the region.
