The Nigerian Senate has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key national institutions, including the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for their efforts that led to Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List.

In a statement, the Senate acknowledged the significant reforms implemented by the government and regulatory agencies, describing the achievement as a milestone that strengthens Nigeria’s global financial credibility and enhances investor confidence.

The upper chamber also announced that it will next week commence the screening of the four newly appointed service chiefs, as requested by President Tinubu, for confirmation. The Senate stressed its commitment to conducting a thorough and transparent process in line with constitutional provisions.

The development marks another step in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national security, enhance institutional integrity, and improve Nigeria’s international financial standing.
