The Senate Committee on Finance on Tuesday held an interactive session with key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government on the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).

The session focused on reviewing the three-year economic framework, which aligns with the provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Act and outlines the Federal Government’s fiscal priorities and projections for the period under review.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, informed the committee that funding is available for the 2024 capital budget, while about 30 per cent of the 2025 capital component has also been provided. He further disclosed that circulars have been issued to MDAs on the Federal Government’s 2026 revenue optimisation programme, which prioritises automation and technology, mandating that all payments be conducted through digital platforms.
