The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has approved automatic employment for the two sons of his police rider, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hussani Ibrahim, who died in a road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.

Akpabio made the announcement on Tuesday during plenary while formally informing his colleagues of the tragic incident. DSP Ibrahim, who served as the Senate President’s rider, has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Senate President expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, the Inspector-General of Police, and the entire Nigeria Police Force, describing the late officer as a dedicated and loyal aide.

The offer of automatic employment for DSP Ibrahim’s sons was announced as a gesture of support to the family, in recognition of the officer’s service, sacrifice, and legacy.

In a related development, the Senate also paid tribute to Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, a long-serving driver of 25 years to the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, who also passed away recently.

The Senate observed a minute of silence in honour of the deceased and offered prayers for the repose of their souls.
