Senate Suspends Udeh’s Ministerial Confirmation Over Pending Security Clearance

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday suspended the confirmation of Kingsley Udeh (SAN) as a minister following the absence of a mandatory security clearance.

The decision was reached during plenary after it was revealed that the nominee’s security screening had not yet been completed by the relevant agencies. Lawmakers agreed that Udeh’s confirmation should be put on hold until the required clearance is received to ensure due process and national security compliance.

Udeh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was among the nominees forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ministerial appointments. The delay in his confirmation means his name will remain pending until the Senate receives an official report from the security agencies.

The development underscores the Senate’s insistence on adhering to procedural integrity in ministerial appointments, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability in the screening process.
