Seven journalists lost their lives on Monday following a fatal road accident along the Yola–Kumo road, after the Billiri axis in Gombe State.

The victims, including staff members of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Gombe, were reportedly returning from a colleague’s wedding ceremony held in Billiri Local Government Area when the incident occurred.

Preliminary findings indicated that the crash was caused by a tyre burst on the bus transporting the journalists, leading to loss of control and the deadly collision.

The tragic incident has thrown the media community in the state into mourning, as colleagues and associates continue to express shock over the sudden loss.
