Seyi Tinubu, youth advocate and son of President Bola Tinubu, expressed deep sympathy for the people of Borno State on Friday, following the devastating floods that recently affected Maiduguri, the state capital. Accompanied by his brother, friends, and associates, Seyi made a substantial donation exceeding ₦500 million to assist those impacted by the disaster.
During his visit to the state government house, Seyi emphasized that the donation marked the beginning of ongoing efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by young flood victims. “We are here today, not just as representatives of our family but as members of a collective effort of young Nigerians to bring hope and relief to those who need it most,” he stated.
The generous contributions included vital food items such as cartons of spaghetti, tomato paste, groundnut oil, bags of flour, rice, and maize, alongside thousands of loaves of bread. Additionally, Seyi’s team donated 10,000 mosquito nets, blankets, mattresses, and essential hygiene supplies, along with critical medical prescriptions for nearly 50,000 children and adults.
Addressing Governor Babagana Zulum and other dignitaries, Seyi praised the resilience of the Borno people, who have faced significant challenges over the years. He conveyed optimism for the state’s recovery, stating, “This too shall pass, and Borno will come out stronger.”
Seyi noted that his father’s recent visit to Maiduguri had highlighted the urgent need for private sector support in response to the crisis. Inspired by this call, Seyi, alongside his wife Layal and the Noella Foundation, rallied support from friends and private sector partners to respond swiftly to the needs of those affected.
“Your Excellency, distinguished leaders, and the resilient people of Borno State, in times of hardship, it is our shared responsibility to stand together,” he said. “These medical supplies, survival kits, and food items are our little gesture of solidarity, knowing that no amount of aid can replace the lives and homes affected by this devastating flood.”
Seyi’s visit garnered praise from associates, including transport expert Chidi and aviator Isaac Balami, who commended him for his dedication to supporting young Nigerians and his commitment to empathy and community service.
This initiative reinforces a message of hope and solidarity, as Seyi Tinubu and his team join efforts to support Borno State in its time of need, reaffirming the belief that together, the community can rebuild and heal.
