Colombian pop star Shakira has confirmed that her concert in Peru will go ahead on Monday, just a day after she was hospitalised, forcing her to cancel a previous show.
The 48-year-old singer was admitted to the emergency room on Saturday night and briefly hospitalised, leading to the cancellation of her scheduled performance on Sunday.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Shakira announced that the gates to Lima’s National Stadium would open at 4:00 pm (2100 GMT), with the concert set to begin at 8:15 pm. However, she made no mention of her health.
Event organiser Masterlive also confirmed that Monday’s show would proceed as planned and stated that a new date for the postponed concert would be announced soon.
Shakira is currently on her first world tour in seven years, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), which began in Rio de Janeiro shortly after she won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album.
With over 90 million records sold and four Grammy Awards, Shakira remains one of the most successful Latin artists of all time. She is scheduled to perform nearly 50 shows across Latin America before taking the tour to the United States and Canada later this year.
