



Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, has assented to the ₦758.7 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill, describing it as a people focused budget shaped by extensive consultations with citizens across the state.
The governor said the budget was drawn from the voices of residents through town hall engagements, reflecting the priorities and needs of the people.
According to him, only 19 per cent of the budget is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while the bulk is dedicated to capital development. He noted that key priority sectors include security, agriculture, healthcare, education, water supply and human capital development.
Governor Aliyu commended the Sokoto State House of Assembly for its thorough scrutiny of the bill, as well as its swift passage of the appropriation legislation.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent governance and the delivery of sustainable development that will improve the living standards of the people of Sokoto State.
