Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement titled “A New Chapter: A Message of Unity and Purpose,” the lawmaker said his decision followed extensive consultations with his constituents and key political leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

Katung explained that his defection was driven by a desire to align with a government that is committed to delivering tangible development to the people of Southern Kaduna. He noted that the APC’s visible achievements in infrastructure, education, and community empowerment across the region influenced his decision.

The senator emphasized that his move was not motivated by personal ambition but by a commitment to effective representation and improved service delivery to his constituents.

Political observers say Katung’s defection signals a major shift in the political landscape of Southern Kaduna, a region long considered a stronghold of the PDP.
