Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has openly dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition, claiming many of its leading figures lack the integrity needed to rescue Nigeria. Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, Sowore said the coalition was filled with individuals whose records disqualify them from steering the nation toward meaningful progress.
Describing the coalition as morally bankrupt, Sowore accused several of its members of past betrayals and self-serving leadership. “There are people in that coalition I cannot sit across from without feeling compelled to act out of character,” he remarked, stressing that their actions over time reflect entrenched corruption, selfishness, and a disregard for public interest. He asserted that his conclusions were based on documented evidence of their conduct, not mere opinion.
While acknowledging that a few individuals in Nigeria’s political space are genuinely committed to positive change, Sowore warned that the opposition alliance—featuring political heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, and David Mark—would only shift Nigeria from “destruction to perdition” if given power in 2027. He insisted that genuine reform must come from leaders with clean records and an uncompromising commitment to public service.
