The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Ministry of Finance are actively working to release the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 bonuses, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has confirmed.
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the NSC, said the funds have already been approved, and disbursement is now underway. He reassured that all match bonuses and entitlements will be paid through official channels shortly.
The confirmation comes after reports that players were concerned about delays, with speculation that they might boycott training or travel for the upcoming AFCON quarter-final against Algeria. NSC officials emphasized that these concerns have been addressed and that payment processes are in motion.
According to the NSC, daily allowances have already been paid, while the processing of match bonuses and incentives is being handled by the CBN. President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved the full AFCON budget in November 2025, ensuring that all stakeholders including the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the players were aligned on bonus structures.
With approvals in place, the government and financial authorities are working to ensure that players receive their entitlements promptly, ahead of the team’s continued campaign in the tournament. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
