Super Eagles Threaten to Boycott Algeria Clash Over Unpaid AFCON 2025 Bonuses

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have reportedly refused to travel to Marrakech for their upcoming match against Algeria unless all outstanding winning bonuses from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) are fully settled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

According to sources close to the team, the players have made it clear that they will not honour the trip until the federation clears all owed entitlements accrued during the ongoing AFCON campaign. The development has thrown preparations for the crucial fixture into uncertainty and heightened tension between the squad and football authorities.

The players are said to be insisting on immediate payment, stressing that the bonuses were earned through on-field performances and should not be delayed. As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from the NFF addressing the demands.

The situation remains fluid, with fears that failure to resolve the dispute promptly could disrupt Nigeria’s participation in the Algeria encounter and further strain relations within the national team setup.
