Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al Hilal have completed the signing of Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala on a two-year contract from U.S. National Women’s Soccer League club Bay FC.
The six-time African Women’s Player of the Year underwent medicals in Riyadh on Monday before being unveiled across Al Hilal’s social media platforms on Tuesday.
“Welcome Asisat Oshoala. Countless achievements, and more to come,” the club announced.
Oshoala links up with compatriots Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega, who also ply their trade in Saudi Arabia. Al Hilal finished sixth in the expanded 2024/25 season, which grew from eight to 10 teams.
Bay FC confirmed her departure in a statement:
“Bay FC and Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal have agreed to terms on a transfer for Asisat Oshoala. Thank you for everything you’ve given to this club.”
Oshoala joined Bay FC as part of their inaugural NWSL season, making 23 starts in 25 appearances and contributing seven goals and one assist. This term, however, she struggled for minutes, starting just five of 12 matches and failing to register a goal or assist before her exit.
Before her U.S. adventure, the two-time Ballon d’Or nominee enjoyed a prolific five-year spell at Barcelona, scoring 107 goals in 149 games while winning five Liga F titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies. She previously turned out for Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chinese side Dalian Quanjian after starting her career in Nigeria with FC Robo and Rivers Angels.
Oshoala was also part of Nigeria’s record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Morocco, featuring in two matches during the tournament.
