Suspected terrorists have launched an attack on a security outpost operated by the Nigeria Police Border Patrol Team at New Kalli village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident reportedly occurred around midnight on Monday, less than 48 hours after a deadly assault in Kasuwan Daji, also within Borgu LGA, where dozens of traders and farmers were killed, further heightening security concerns in the area.

During the attack, the assailants set fire to the building used as the police border patrol outpost, destroying officers’ personal belongings. They also torched farm produce belonging to local residents before fleeing the scene.

Although no casualties were recorded, the attack has deepened fear and anxiety among farmers and residents, many of whom have already been affected by repeated violence in the area.

Sources disclosed that the attackers arrived on motorcycles, burned down the accommodation used by the officers, destroyed stored farm produce and carted away some personal items.

Confirming the development, the Disaster Officer of Borgu Local Government Area, Musa Saidu, said relevant security agencies had been alerted and assessments were underway. The Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, also verified the attack.
