Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has highlighted Taraba State’s vast agricultural potential, describing it as a land blessed with fertile soil ideal for coffee and tea cultivation.
Speaking recently, Governor Kefas emphasized that the state’s natural endowments, particularly on the Mambilla Plateau, position it to become a leading hub for these cash crops. “Taraba has the right climate and fertile land to support large-scale coffee and tea farming,” he stated, adding that the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for both farmers and investors.
Taraba has a history of agricultural excellence, with existing tea plantations such as the Kakara Tea Farm, one of the largest in West Africa, demonstrating the state’s capacity for high-quality produce. The governor’s remarks coincide with ongoing efforts to attract investors and expand the coffee and tea value chains in the region.
In September 2025, Taraba hosted a Coffee and Tea Investors’ Forum aimed at boosting investment opportunities and showcasing the state’s agricultural potential. Experts at the forum noted that the combination of fertile soils, cool climate, and strategic government support makes Taraba a prime destination for agribusiness ventures.
With agriculture forming the backbone of Taraba’s economy, Governor Kefas’s announcement signals a renewed push to develop the state into a leading producer of coffee and tea in Nigeria. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
