
Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has condemned the recent spate of attacks and killings in Benue State, describing the situation as a national emergency.
In an Instagram video posted on Sunday, the Benue-born artiste expressed deep sorrow over the violence that has rocked parts of the state, saying the killings have left him heartbroken, angry, and frustrated.
The 49-year-old singer said, ”What is going on in my state has become a national emergency. I can not wrap my head around it.
“I do not even know what to say at this point in time because it is going to be business as usual.”
PUNCH Online had reported that armed herders invaded Yelwata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area on Friday and Saturday, killing several residents, including security operatives.
Incessant killings was also recorded in Mtswenem and Akondotyough Bawa in Makurdi LGA
Reacting to the tragic incidents, the ‘African Queen’ crooner said the killings must end and called on relevant authorities to act decisively.
”This thing has to stop. It has to evoke everybody. Everybody, every stakeholder in this country, every stakeholder in Benue State.
”This is not child’s play. It’s becoming ridiculous,” he said.
2Baba lamented that despite repeated outcries, there has been no concrete solution to the crisis.
“This, I do not even, I do not know where to start expressing my sadness, my grief, my anger, my frustration for these things that keep happening over and over again,” he said.
“You know. Every time, okay, we call on the governors, we call on the president. Oh man, this thing is not funny anymore.
“It has gone beyond just condemning. Serious action needs to start to take place.
“Every stakeholder needs to come together. We need to fight this.
