Tinubu Approves Redeployment of Four Federal Permanent Secretaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the redeployment of four federal permanent secretaries as part of a strategic move to enhance efficiency within the Federal Civil Service.

According to an official statement from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the redeployments align with ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening service delivery, promoting innovation, and improving administrative operations across ministries. The exercise is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.

The affected senior officials and their new postings include:

  • Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe, reassigned from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to the Ministry of Regional Development to understudy the outgoing Permanent Secretary, set to retire on May 7, 2025.
  • Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, moved from the Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
  • Dr. Emeka Vitalis Obi, transferred from the Ministry of Budget & Economic Development to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
  • Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam, redeployed from the Special Duties Office under the OHCSF to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, highlighted that the redeployment exercise is a routine but vital process. She described it as a way to “reinvigorate the civil service by leveraging the expertise of top officials in critical sectors.”

She encouraged the affected permanent secretaries to bring their experience and leadership to their new roles, ensuring “seamless service delivery and sustained progress” in their respective ministries.

The directive mandates that all handover and take-over processes be completed on or before May 2, 2025.

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to building a world-class civil service in Nigeria, anchored on professionalism, accountability, and national development.
