President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday declared that Nigeria’s economy has “turned the corner” and that there is now light at the end of the tunnel following the reforms introduced by his administration over the past two years. Speaking in Ibadan, Oyo State, at the coronation of Oba Sen Abdul Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, the President expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their patience, support and sacrifices, assuring them that the benefits of the reforms will soon be felt.

The President also used the occasion to pay tribute to the new Olubadan, describing him as a resilient leader who played a major role in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy by overcoming an illegal impeachment as governor of Oyo State. He said the coronation was not only a significant moment for Ibadanland but also a celebration of perseverance, destiny and service.

Governor Seyi Makinde presented the new monarch with the staff of office and a certificate, noting that the coronation had put to rest longstanding disputes over succession in Ibadan’s traditional institution. In his acceptance speech, Oba Ladoja described his ascension to the throne as a divine journey of destiny, thanked President Tinubu for honouring him with his presence, and pledged to uphold the responsibilities of the office.
