Tinubu Being Misled on Insecurity, Should Leave the Villa and Hear Nigerians – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused state governors of misleading President Bola Tinubu on the true state of insecurity across Nigeria, urging the president to leave the presidential villa and engage directly with ordinary citizens. Speaking during a televised interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi dismissed recent claims by presidential aide Daniel Bwala that insecurity had significantly declined under Tinubu’s leadership.

“I feel sorry for President Tinubu,” Abdullahi said. “If this is the kind of narrative he gets to hear all the time, then it is natural and obvious that he lives in a bubble. He needs to leave the Villa, go on the streets, and talk to people.” Abdullahi added that many governors were feeding the president curated feedback designed to maintain political favour rather than accurately reflecting the suffering of their citizens. He stressed that insecurity remains rampant, with vast parts of the country still under siege by criminals.

Responding to Bwala’s claims that insecurity in regions such as Benue and Plateau has decreased, Abdullahi countered that the broader national picture suggests otherwise. “This is not just about criminal tendencies,” he said. “This is about a security crisis that continues to affect livelihoods, displace communities, and paralyse economic activity.” The ADC, which is the platform for the newly formed opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, insists that the administration’s current posture is disconnected from the lived realities of Nigerians.
