The Tinubu-Kashim administration has launched the Nigeria4H2 Project, a groundbreaking initiative designed to position Nigeria as a global hub for green hydrogen production and export. The project was unveiled in Abuja as part of a national study and stakeholder dialogue focused on developing a robust green hydrogen strategy.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking at the event, highlighted the project’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in advancing clean energy, industrial diversification, and job creation. The initiative is expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s capacity to produce up to 4 million tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2060.
Developed in partnership with WASCAL, the Federal University of Technology Akure, Afe Babalola University, and other research bodies, the project will assess the nation’s infrastructure, regulation, and investment readiness for green hydrogen.
The Nigeria4H2 Project is set to contribute to fertilizer self-sufficiency, power generation, and sustainable transportation while creating thousands of skilled jobs. It also aims to position Nigeria strategically in the projected $200 billion global hydrogen market.
This strategic step underscores the Tinubu-Kashim administration’s commitment to climate-resilient growth and economic transformation through innovation and sustainable energy.
