Tinubu Lauds NNPCL Boss Mele Kyari on 60th Birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated on January 8.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Kyari’s transformative leadership, which has steered the NNPCL toward becoming a profitable and innovative organization.

The President highlighted Kyari’s pivotal role in achieving several milestones, including the revival of two refineries, boosting domestic natural gas consumption, and increasing Nigeria’s oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day. Despite skepticism from some quarters, Kyari’s tenure has been marked by significant progress and results.

“Kyari is a shining example and embodiment of the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda. I commend his commitment to creating new opportunities and ensuring the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s energy sector,” President Tinubu stated.

The President also praised Kyari’s professionalism and dedication throughout his illustrious career at the NNPC, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and as the first Group Chief Executive Officer of the restructured NNPCL.

President Tinubu concluded by praying to Almighty Allah to grant Kyari continued good health, wisdom, and strength to further serve the nation and mentor future leaders in Nigeria’s energy sector.

Mallam Kyari, known for his innovative approach and strategic vision, has been at the forefront of efforts to reform Nigeria’s energy sector, ensuring its long-term growth and sustainability.
