President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially renamed the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, in Bauchi State, after the late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The announcement was made on Saturday during the President’s condolence visit to the family of the late scholar in Bauchi. President Tinubu described Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a national icon who dedicated his life to the propagation of Islamic knowledge, peace, and moral guidance across Nigeria and beyond.
“In honour of his lifelong service to religion, education, and humanity, the Federal Government has decided to rename the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, as Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University,” the President stated.
The move has been widely welcomed by scholars, religious leaders, and citizens who regard Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a towering figure in Islamic scholarship.
This renaming is seen as part of the administration’s broader commitment to recognizing the contributions of individuals who have played key roles in the spiritual and educational development of the nation.
