President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday night ahead of the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a major global forum on sustainable development and climate action.

The President’s aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at 11:30 pm local time, where he was received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, alongside the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission.

Members of the Nigerian delegation, including the Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, later welcomed President Tinubu at his hotel.

The President arrived from Europe, where he spent part of his end-of-year break and held engagements with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” convenes world leaders, policymakers, investors and experts to advance global efforts on sustainability, energy transition and inclusive economic growth.

President Tinubu’s visit highlights Nigeria’s growing engagement in global sustainability initiatives and reinforces the country’s diplomatic and economic relations with the United Arab Emirates.
