Authorities in Georgia are investigating a heartbreaking tragedy after 2-year-old Kaimir Jones was fatally attacked by two large dogs at an allegedly unlicensed daycare on Saturday, October 4. Police say the toddler had been left unattended for at least two hours while the daycare operator, 48-year-old Stacy Wheeler Cobb, was reportedly taking a nap inside the home.

When emergency responders arrived, they found Kaimir critically injured from multiple dog bites. Despite efforts to save him, the toddler was pronounced dead at the scene. Both dogs involved in the attack have since been removed by animal control officials as the investigation continues. Police described the conditions at the home as unsafe and unfit for childcare, confirming that the facility was operating without a state license or proper supervision.

“This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred, but because of negligence on this offender’s behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child,” said Police Chief Leslie Manahan, vowing to ensure justice is served. Cobb has been taken into custody and faces multiple charges related to child neglect and operating an illegal daycare. The community remains in mourning over a loss that police say was “entirely preventable.”
