The United Church of Christ in Nigeria, UCCN, also known as HEKAN, has raised alarm over the brutal killing of one of its pastors, Reverend Yahaya Kambasiya, and the abduction of more than 20 persons during a renewed attack on the Farin Dutse community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The late cleric was reportedly shot dead when gunmen invaded the village late Thursday night, unleashing terror on residents and setting several houses ablaze.
Jocomms Correspondent reports that the attack has plunged the HEKAN community into deep mourning, with church leaders condemning the incident as another grim reminder of the growing insecurity in rural parts of Kaduna. The President of the church, Reverend (Dr.) Amos Kiri, described the killing as “barbaric and senseless,” urging the government and security agencies to act decisively to protect citizens and bring the perpetrators to justice. He lamented that the continued violence in the region has left many communities devastated and fearful.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers operated for hours without resistance, carting away valuables and abducting villagers, including women and children. Local vigilantes and security forces have since launched a search operation, but many families remain uncertain about the fate of their loved ones. As tension rises and calls for justice grow louder, will this tragedy finally push authorities to confront the escalating wave of violence in southern Kaduna? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
