Tragedy in Northern Afghanistan as Quake Kills 27, Injures Hundreds

At least 27 people have lost their lives and nearly 1,000 others have been injured after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan, leaving widespread destruction in Samangan and Balkh provinces.

The quake, centered near Khulm, flattened homes and damaged the historic Blue Mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif. Hospitals are overwhelmed as injured victims continue to pour in.
