
The ARISE News Channel is mourning the devastating loss of one of its brightest voices, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who tragically passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025, following an armed robbery incident at her residence in Katampe, Abuja. She was 29.
Fondly known as Sommie, Maduagwu was a respected news anchor, reporter, and producer whose energy and professionalism touched colleagues and viewers alike. Beyond her role on air, she was also a lawyer, remembered for her brilliance, compassion, and unwavering commitment to truth.
In a statement, ARISE News Channel described her as “a cherished colleague, a vibrant voice, and a supportive friend whose legacy will remain deeply ingrained in our hearts.”
