Troops Launch Nationwide Crackdown on Terrorists and Criminals

Troops over the weekend conducted coordinated operations across Nigeria, targeting terrorists, bandits, armed robbers, kidnappers, and other criminal elements. The raids led to the neutralization of several armed criminals, the arrest of suspects, and the recovery of weapons, ammunition, illicit substances, and stolen property, as well as the rescue of kidnapped victims.

During the operations, troops engaged insurgents in multiple locations, killing several terrorists and seizing firearms, including AK-47 rifles and ammunition. Members of the Eastern Security Network in the Southeast suffered significant losses, while oil bunkering activities in the Southsouth were disrupted, resulting in the recovery of over 1,700 litres of illegally refined petroleum. Several drug peddlers were also apprehended.

A spokesperson confirmed that suspected terrorist logistics suppliers, informants, and a woman linked to a notorious terror kingpin were arrested, with weapons, cash, and mobile phones recovered. Army units also intercepted stolen vehicles and recovered kidnapped victims and livestock in ongoing operations.

The military source emphasized that troops would continue to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt criminal activities, and ensure public safety. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safer environment, supporting agricultural productivity, and assisting the Federal Government’s efforts to maintain law and order across the country.
