Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade have successfully repelled a terrorist ambush near Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. The soldiers were returning from a routine patrol around the fringes of Sambisa Forest when they came under sudden and heavy fire from insurgents.
The patrol team, led by the Commander of 25 Brigade, Brigadier General M. Uba, included personnel of the 25 Task Force Brigade and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The troops responded with superior firepower, overpowering the attackers and forcing them to withdraw in disarray.
Despite the successful counter-operation, two soldiers and two members of the CJTF tragically paid the supreme price in the line of duty. The Nigerian Army High Command has commiserated with the families of the fallen heroes and praised their courage, professionalism, and sacrifice to the nation.
The Army also debunked misleading online reports alleging the abduction of the Brigade Commander, stressing that such claims are false. The public has been advised to disregard the misinformation and rely solely on verified updates from official channels.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal (NAM), applauded the gallantry and resilience demonstrated by the troops. He reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism, protecting citizens, and restoring enduring peace across the North-East.
