US President-elect Donald Trump appointed right-wing Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz as his attorney general on Wednesday, recognizing the unwavering support of a loyal ally who has stood by Trump throughout his legal challenges and impeachment proceedings.

“Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan weaponization of our justice system,” Trump wrote on social media. “Matt will put an end to Weaponized Government and restore the American people’s shattered faith and confidence in the Justice Department.”
