U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday sharply criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of speaking “bullshit” about the ongoing war in Ukraine and pledging a renewed flow of weapons to support Kyiv’s defenses. The unusually blunt remarks came during a televised White House cabinet meeting, reflecting Trump’s mounting frustration with the Kremlin’s stance on peace efforts.

“He’s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless,” Trump said of Putin, adding that their recent phone call failed to make progress on a peace deal. Reversing a previous decision to halt some arms deliveries, Trump confirmed the U.S. would now send additional military support, including 10 Patriot missile defense systems, citing Russia’s increasing brutality. “Putin is not treating human beings right. He’s killing too many people,” Trump stated.

The Kremlin swiftly responded, warning that continued U.S. weapons transfers would only prolong the conflict. “These actions probably do not align with attempts to promote a peaceful resolution,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the renewed military support and said Kyiv would “intensify” talks with Washington on air defense.

The shift in U.S. policy comes as Russian forces claim fresh advances in Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region, capturing the village of Dachne amid heavy air and missile assaults. Ukrainian officials denied any confirmed Russian control in the area but admitted the situation remains “difficult.” With over three years of war showing no signs of resolution, Kyiv continues to urge stronger international support to hold off Moscow’s offensive.
