President Donald Trump has ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff across the nation to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed in a targeted shooting at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

In a proclamation issued late Tuesday, Trump directed that flags be lowered at the White House, federal buildings, military installations, and U.S. embassies worldwide until sunset on September 14, 2025. The gesture, he said, was “a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk.”

Kirk, 31, was the founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of the former president. His death has drawn tributes from across the Republican Party, with Trump also confirming that Kirk will be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
