Former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The forms were submitted on Monday at the party’s national secretariat annex, Legacy House, Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, Abuja. Turaki’s action comes as part of preparations ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention scheduled for November.
Reports indicate that several stakeholders within the North West zone have adopted Turaki as their consensus candidate for the chairmanship position.
Meanwhile, former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who had also indicated interest in contesting, was unable to purchase the nomination form as of the time of filing this report. Lamido described the situation as strange and disappointing, expressing concern over what he termed as an avoidable administrative delay.
The development underscores ongoing intrigues and alignment within the PDP ahead of its leadership convention.
