Türkiye has announced plans to relax its visa process for Nigerian business travelers, a move aimed at deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, confirmed that additional visa application centers will be established in Nigeria, particularly in the eastern and northern regions, to facilitate easier access for businesspeople and other travelers.
“This initiative is part of Türkiye’s broader strategy to strengthen economic ties with Nigeria and support the growth of trade between our nations,” Ambassador Poroy said. Officials have set an ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to US$5 billion.
Travel and business associations in Nigeria, including the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), have welcomed the move, noting that the current visa procedures have been a major bottleneck for business and tourism.
While specific details about visa types, eligibility, and costs have not yet been disclosed, the Turkish government has emphasized that the reforms will prioritize business travel and aim to make the process smoother for Nigerian entrepreneurs.
Industry experts believe that the easing of visa regulations could significantly enhance business engagement between the two countries and attract more Nigerian tourists to Turkey. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
