Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was shot on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University, the group confirmed. “We are confirming that he was shot and we are praying for Charlie,” said Aubrey Laitsch, public relations manager for Turning Point USA.

The incident occurred as Kirk was addressing students at the Sorensen Center courtyard under a white tent branded with the slogans “The American Comeback” and “Prove Me Wrong.” Videos verified by the Associated Press show Kirk speaking with a handheld microphone when a gunshot rang out, prompting him to grab his neck as shocked attendees screamed and fled the scene.

The attack has sparked an outpouring of concern from political leaders, including former President Donald Trump, who posted on Truth Social: “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!” The shooting comes amid a troubling surge in political violence across the U.S., with recent high-profile incidents raising fears of escalating tensions ahead of the 2026 election cycle.
