
The United States has congratulated Nigeria on the occasion of its 65th Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening ties with Africa’s largest democracy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised Nigeria’s resilience, leadership, and achievements over the past six decades, describing the nation as “a beacon of strength and determination.”
Rubio highlighted the enduring partnership between Washington and Abuja, rooted in shared democratic values, expanding economic ties, and joint efforts to promote regional peace and global security.
“Nigeria stands as a beacon of strength and determination,” he said. “We look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals.”
The Secretary of State also applauded Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit, noting that the country’s dynamism continues to inspire global admiration. He expressed optimism about deepening bilateral collaboration in areas of trade, governance, innovation, and security in the years ahead.
