UK Lifts Travel Restrictions on Kaduna, Upgrades State to ‘Amber’ Category

The United Kingdom has officially lifted its travel restrictions on Kaduna State, moving it from the “Red” to the “Amber” category in its foreign travel advisory. The decision signals renewed international confidence in Kaduna’s improving security environment, which has long been a source of concern for foreign governments and investors.

The reclassification means UK citizens are no longer advised to avoid all travel to the state but are instead urged to exercise increased caution, in line with broader security considerations across parts of Nigeria. This marks a significant diplomatic and economic boost for Kaduna, which has faced years of challenges linked to banditry, communal clashes, and insurgency spillovers.

Officials in Kaduna welcomed the update, saying it would strengthen opportunities for foreign investment, tourism, and development partnerships. The move is also seen as recognition of the state government’s efforts to improve security coordination and foster stability across the region.
