UNN Mourns Student Lost In Accident En Route To Davido’s Concert

A student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN) tragically lost his life in a car accident while on his way to Davido’s concert in Enugu. 

The Management of the University has expressed sadness following the death of one of its students in a road accident on November 1, 2025, along the Opi-Nsukka Road.

This was contained in a press statement by the Acting Public Relations Officer of UNN, Inya  Egwu, and made available to journalists in Nsukka on Monday, November 3, 2025.

The statement noted that ten students of the university were on their way from Nsukka to Enugu to attend a music concert organized by popular Nigerian artiste, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, when their vehicle was involved in an accident.

Nwankwo Chukwuebuka Chrisantus, a third-year student of the university in the Department of Economics, lost his life in the accident, while the other nine students sustained various degrees of injury and were admitted to the Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka.

Two 300-level students were said to have been rendered unconscious, while a final-year student is reportedly battling a severe brain injury. Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, where they are currently receiving treatment. As of press time, one of the victims was undergoing surgery for a fractured skull.

The Acting Public Relations Officer of the university, Inya Egwu, confirmed the incident and said the institution will issue an official statement soon.

The statement further advised all students of the institution to avoid unnecessary and night travels and always seek permission from the university authority before embarking on any trip outside the institution’s campus.
