The United States Embassy has announced that visa applicants with interviews scheduled after January 1, 2025, will need to visit the Consulate General in Lagos at least twice as part of their immigration visa process. This new directive was shared by the embassy on its X (formerly Twitter) page on Tuesday.
The post reads: “For applicants with interviews after January 1, 2025, you are required to visit the Consulate General in Lagos at least twice during the immigrant visa process. This change is designed to help you prepare for your visa interview and prevent significant delays in processing.”
According to the embassy’s website, the first visit will involve an “In-Person Document Review” with a consular officer. This review ensures applicants are fully prepared for their visa interviews by allowing them to address any missing documents before the interview, helping avoid processing delays.
The second visit will be an interview with a Consular Officer, scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC). The embassy emphasized that if the In-Person Document Review is not completed before the interview, applicants will need to reschedule their appointment.
These changes are aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing delays caused by incomplete documentation.
