The United States Embassy in Nigeria has quietly begun revoking valid visas previously issued to Nigerian citizens, a move that has caused confusion and distress among travellers. Reports indicate that professionals, entrepreneurs, frequent travellers, and families have been affected, with many now stranded and facing mounting financial and logistical challenges.

The sudden cancellations have disrupted business trips, academic pursuits, medical appointments, and family reunifications, leaving affected Nigerians grappling with uncertainty. Some travellers said they were informed of the revocation only upon arrival at airports, while others received notices shortly before scheduled departures.

As of now, the US Embassy has not issued a formal statement explaining the widespread revocations, sparking speculation and concern among stakeholders. Immigration experts have urged the US government to clarify its position, while Nigerian authorities are being called upon to intervene diplomatically to protect citizens facing losses and uncertainty.
