Popular social media activist Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused Dangote Group of abandoning a 22-year-old woman who was reportedly crushed by one of its truck drivers in Auchi, Edo State. In a video shared via his Instagram story on Monday, VDM showed the young victim bedridden at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, where she has allegedly been receiving treatment for the past 11 months with hospital bills running over N5 million.

The activist, who joined a protest against Dangote trucks in Auchi, demanded that the company take full responsibility for all victims of accidents involving its vehicles. “We met an abandoned victim of Dangote’s reckless unlicensed driver… She has been in the hospital for 11 months with bills of over 5 million naira; Dangote has abandoned her,” he wrote, warning that no Dangote trucks would be allowed into the town until the victims are cared for.

The allegation comes days after BBNaija Season 7 winner, Phyna Otabor, publicly accused Dangote Group of negligence after her sister was similarly hit by one of the company’s trucks in Auchi. While the company later pledged to cover Ruth Otabor’s medical bills, it has yet to respond to VDM’s fresh claims. The controversy coincides with Dangote Refinery’s delayed rollout of its 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks, a scheme initially scheduled to begin on August 15 but postponed due to truck-numbering logistics.
