Popular Nigerian social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has publicly criticised his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over a cautionary post advising him to avoid unnecessary risks. Adeyanju, in a message shared via X, warned that if anything happened to VeryDarkMan, life would go on, emphasizing that Nigerians often overestimate their importance.
“I call VDM every time to be careful and stop taking unnecessary risks but he doesn’t listen most of the time. If anything happens to you today, everyone has moved on by tomorrow,” Adeyanju wrote, sparking speculation of a rift between him and his client.
In a fiery Instagram response, VeryDarkMan described the statement as cowardly and expressed disappointment in Adeyanju, whom he referred to as a comrade. “Anybody wey open his mouth talk that thing is a coward,” he said. “I’m disappointed this came from someone like you.”
The activist argued that death is inevitable and no one is indispensable. Citing historical and national figures, he added that people must take risks to challenge systemic injustice, regardless of the personal cost.
