Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Shettima will join world leaders, business executives, and development partners to discuss the state of the global economy and explore solutions to improve economic conditions.

During the meeting, the Vice President will hold bilateral discussions with fellow leaders and participate in key workshops and forums. One of the major events he will attend is a workshop on “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the WEF. This session aims to boost capital flow into Africa’s frontier markets and promote inclusive economic growth on the continent.

A highlight of the event will be the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, a partnership between the AfDB and other stakeholders, designed to drive investment into Africa’s frontier markets. The Vice President will also attend a dinner with heads of state, government leaders, and representatives of international organizations.

Senator Shettima will co-chair a forum titled “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” where discussions will focus on the role of the private sector in advancing digital trade, particularly in relation to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol.

Additionally, the Vice President will participate as a panelist in the “Global Risks 2025” Stakeholder Dialogue. This session will address the increasingly volatile global landscape marked by geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges.

The Vice President is accompanied by key government officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos.
