Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The forum, which gathers global leaders, business executives, and development partners, focuses on tackling pressing global economic challenges and identifying strategies for sustainable growth.

Joining the Vice President are key government officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).

During the event, Vice President Shettima will engage in high-level discussions and bilateral meetings aimed at boosting Nigeria’s economic opportunities and addressing global risks.

A key highlight of his participation is a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in partnership with the WEF. The session will explore ways to attract capital flows into Africa to foster inclusive development and enhance resilience across the continent.

The Vice President will also attend the launch of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, designed to drive public-private partnerships and investment in Africa’s emerging markets.

Additionally, Vice President Shettima is set to co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre. This forum will explore strategies to leverage the private sector for the implementation of the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, adopted by African Union leaders in January 2024.

Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos, which align with Nigeria’s broader goals of fostering sustainable development and expanding its economic prospects on the global stage.
