The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday led a Federal Government delegation on a condolence visit to the Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas, at his family residence in Zaria, Kaduna State. The visit was to mourn the passing of the minister’s mother, Hajiya Dayyabatu Lawal, who died at the age of 93.
Senator Shettima said the visit was carried out at the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend condolences to the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Minister, and the entire Zazzau Emirate. He described the passing of Hajiya Dayyabatu as a great loss to the nation.
“We are here at the behest of President Tinubu to commiserate with the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas, over the demise of the matriarch of the family, Hajiya Dayyabatu Lawal,” the Vice President said.
He prayed that Allah grants her soul eternal rest, rewards her with Aljannatul Firdaus, and grants her family, as well as the people of the Zazzau Emirate and Kaduna State, the fortitude to bear the loss.
Senator Shettima also prayed for continued unity and peace, saying, “May Allah continue to unite the people of the Zazzau Emirate, and may peace continue to reign in Kaduna State and Nigeria in general.”
