
The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has visited victims of Monday’s multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri, offering sympathy to the injured and affected families. Over 100 people were impacted by the blasts, with more than 20 confirmed dead. Senator Shettima described the attacks as barbaric, stressing that no cause can justify the killing of innocent civilians.
During the visit to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where the victims are receiving treatment, the Vice President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to confront terrorism decisively. He highlighted ongoing investments in equipment and logistics to support security agencies in strengthening the nationwide fight against terrorism.
Senator Shettima assured the victims of government support through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the North East Development Commission, and the Borno State Government. He was accompanied by Borno State Deputy Governor Usman Kadafur, NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar, Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Professor Ahmed Ahijo, and other senior officials.
