Bandits launched a deadly early-morning attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, located in the Danko/Wasagu area of Kebbi State, killing Vice-Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku and abducting an unspecified number of students. The assault, which occurred around 5 a.m. on Monday, has plunged the already troubled community into deep fear and mourning as residents grapple with yet another violent incursion.

Jocomms Correspondent reports that locals say the attackers met no resistance as they stormed the school premises. According to resident Aliyu Yakubu, the bandits opened fire as they moved through the compound, with the Vice-Principal reportedly shot while attempting to shield students from being taken. His death has been described as a profound loss to the school and the wider community, which has suffered multiple attacks in recent months. Panic remains high as families await information on the number and condition of abducted students.

As at the time of filing this report, the Kebbi State Police Command had not issued an official statement. Repeated calls to the spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, went unanswered, leaving residents anxious for clarity and urgent action. With another school community shattered by violence, the nation is left to ask—how many more children must be stolen before real security takes hold in Nigeria’s vulnerable regions?
