Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead the Nigerian delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled for January 19–23, 2026.
He arrived from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya. On arrival in Switzerland, VP Shettima was received by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, alongside officials of the Nigerian mission in Davos.
The 2026 WEF marks a milestone in Nigeria’s global economic diplomacy with the official debut of “Nigeria House Davos,” the country’s first sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade. Developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the facility will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the week.
At the Forum, VP Shettima will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook, participate in plenary sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biotechnology, and hold bilateral meetings with global leaders, multinational executives, and development finance institutions.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole stated that Nigeria will showcase investment opportunities across key sectors, highlighting President Tinubu’s efforts in economic reforms, including solid minerals, climate sustainability, agriculture, creative industries, and digital innovation.
