The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has commissioned the Tudun Biri Resettlement Scheme in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, fulfilling a promise by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rebuild the community nearly two years after it was hit by an accidental drone strike.

The project includes 133 completed housing units, educational facilities, and other modern infrastructure. Senator Shettima explained that the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens affected by conflict are not abandoned.

“This resettlement scheme is a practical assurance that the Nigerian state protects its citizens in times of adversity. It restores stability, rebuilds livelihoods, and creates the conditions for lasting peace,” the Vice President said.

Implemented under the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC), the project reflects the Federal Government’s wider effort to respond to humanitarian crises and internal displacement across Nigeria. Similar resettlement projects are ongoing in Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, and Benue States.

Senator Shettima commended the Kaduna State government for its partnership in the project and stressed that collaboration between the Federal Government, state authorities, host communities, and development partners is key to success.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State thanked President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their decisive intervention, describing the project as a demonstration of governance that prioritizes citizens’ dignity.

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar, noted that the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes people-centered recovery, national security, and inclusive development. She highlighted that ten of the originally planned 143 housing units were converted into a school facility to meet the educational needs of the community.

Beneficiaries of the scheme expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for bringing relief and restoring hope to Tudun Biri and other affected communities across the country.
